Use steel wool to plug in openings where rodents can enter. Even if the pests manage to chew through it, the steel wool will end up killing them. Fill in any space more than half an inch. Rodents can fit through incredibly small openings.

Kill ants around your home using an easy-to-make home concoction. Combine borax and sugar in a jar in a 1:1 ratio. Sprinkle the mixture around the outside of your home at its foundation and anywhere else you've noticed ants. The sugar will attract the ants, while the borax will kill them.

Take away any pet food in the overnight hours. You will also want to take away their water bowl. Bugs like to eat the food and then wash it down with the water bowl. If you are spraying for bugs with pesticide you want to take away the dog bowl before hand.

One pest that is known for being hard to eliminate is fleas. Thankfully, you can use several methods for eliminating fleas and their eggs. First, you should vacuum every single day. Once you do this, use a flea spray. Don't forget to throw out the vacuum bag outside.

If you practice recycling, make sure to rinse out all bottles can cans. Soda cans contain a great deal of sugar, which pests love, so make sure these are especially well rinsed. Do not leave soda in the cans when you put them out to recycle.

If you have a lot of trees or bushes around your home, prune them. This is a good way to prevent insects and animals from moving closer to your home, as they will not be able to transport themselves. Try to prune your trees at least once every few months or when they are getting too large.

You need to decide just how much tolerance you have for certain pests. For instance, can you handle an insect in your garden or an ant in your kitchen every now and then? Most people can deal with this very small problem. However, you probably will not tolerate any fleas or ticks in your home. Once you are aware of the amount and type of pest activity you can tolerate, you can then develop a proper plan.

If you are struggling with an ant problem in your house, make sure you are not feeding your unwanted visitors! Be very diligent about putting away any food after you eat it and keep your countertops and floors clean. Take out your trash regularly and if you have pets, don't leave their food out overnight.

Clean House

The simplest and most obvious way to keep pests away from the inside and outside of your home? Keep it clean! A clean house is a pest-free house. Pests like to thrive in damp and dirty areas, so if they can't find a place like that in your house, then they won't want to stay there!

The cleaner your home, the less mice you'll have. If they have nothing to eat, they won't stick around. That said, some mice will even eat what your home is made of, so a clean house may not inhibit the infestation. Close holes and gaps and put poison in areas away from pets and children.

What you have just read should tell you that there is also so much more that you can do. This should give you a great start towards getting rid of the bugs in your home by yourself. Don't worry about it anymore. Keep the advice you've read, and continue to learn more about taking control of your pest situation.
