???? Role Overview

We are looking for experienced freelancers to support VMware to Red Hat OpenShift migration projects. The consultant will assess existing VMware-based workloads and lead the migration to OpenShift, ensuring minimal downtime, security, scalability, and performance.

This is a hands-on technical role suited for professionals with strong containerization, Kubernetes, and platform engineering experience.

????? Key Responsibilities

• Assess existing VMware vSphere / ESXi environments and hosted applications

• Define migration strategy: rehost, refactor, re-platform, or re-architect

• Containerize legacy applications using Docker/Podman

• Migrate workloads from VMware to Red Hat OpenShift (on-prem / cloud / hybrid)

• Design and implement OpenShift architectures, namespaces, RBAC, networking

• Configure CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitLab/GitHub Actions) for OpenShift deployments

• Handle storage, networking, ingress, service mesh, and security integrations

• Perform application validation, performance tuning, and post-migration support

• Document migration approach, architecture diagrams, and SOPs

• Work closely with client infra, app, and security teams

???? Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years experience in infrastructure / platform engineering

• Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere / ESXi

• Strong expertise in Red Hat OpenShift / Kubernetes

• Experience with containerization (Docker / Podman)

• Knowledge of Linux (RHEL/CentOS) administration

• Experience with Helm, Operators, YAML manifests

• Understanding of networking, storage, security in container platforms

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP) is a plus

• Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills

• Red Hat certifications (RHCSA / RHCE / OpenShift)

• Experience with VMware Tanzu vs OpenShift comparisons

• Knowledge of service mesh (Istio), monitoring (Prometheus/Grafana)

• Exposure to DevSecOps and security scanning tools
